1984 Maserati Quattroporte III

1984 Maserati Quattroporte III

The Maserati Quattroporte is a four door super sedan designed and manufactured by Italian car manufacturer, Maserati. The word “quattroporte” translated means “four doors”. Originally introduced in 1963, the Quattroporte remains in production to this day, its sixth generation of design.

The museums Maserati is a body style that was originally introduced in 1979 and marketed as a “businessman’s Maserati.” The Quattroporte was only available in a V8 but the transmission could be ordered as a manual or a Chrysler built Torqueflite automatic. The Quattroporte was a competitor to many high end brands but it was important to Maserati’s new chief that the car have the amenities to compete directly with the Mercedes 450SEL. This version marks the last of the hand built Italian cars. There were 2,100 cars produced between 1979 and 1989.
