1962 Cadillac Model 62 Convertible
The Cadillac Series 62 family of models were manufactured from 1940 - 1964. The name was dropped and replaced with Calais in 1965. This car is a 1962 model, and was the seventh (and last) generation of the Series 62. This year marked the 60th anniversary year for Cadillac, and the automaker produced 160,840 automobiles (of all models) that year. Of those, 72,877 were Series 62, such as this car.
The 1962 model year was also the year Cadillac introduced the dual-safety master cylinder (one line to the front brakes, the other line to the rear brakes), eliminating a single brake line from the brake reservoir to all four brakes. This car is owned by a local Ventura car collector and has some unique personalized features. It is powered with Cadillac’s 390 cubic inch V8 engine, producing 325 horsepower and has a four speed Hydramatic automatic transmission.
